Bentley Prince Street Continues Commitment to Sustainability Leadership by achieving Climate Registered Status
Measuring & Reducing its Carbon Footprint Brings Company Closer to Mission Zero® Goal
Bentley Prince Street, Inc, an industry leader in flooring and responsible manufacturing, achieved Climate Registered™ status by successfully measuring its carbon footprint according to The Climate Registry’s best-in-class program, then having it third party verified and reporting the data on The Registry’s website. Bentley Prince Street joins a distinct group of leading organizations across North America in adopting a more sustainable approach to doing business.
Measuring its carbon footprint with The Registry allows Bentley Prince Street to prepare for future regulation, identify inefficiencies and potential for cost savings, as well as provide real and meaningful data to customers and shareholders about its environmental performance. Reducing the company’s energy usage, costs and carbon emissions brings Bentley Prince Street a step closer to its Mission Zero promise to completely eliminate any negative impact it may have on the environment by the year 2020.
“We are proud to be Climate Registered for three years now and that status is as important to our customers as it is to us,” says Anthony Minite, president of Bentley Prince Street. “In today’s marketplace you’ve got to deliver the best products, responsibly and transparently, because customers are savvier than ever before about the products they specify and the companies they do business with.”
Bentley Prince Street has been conducting a GHG inventory internally since 1996. In 2002, the company became the first manufacturer in California to verify and publicly report its GHG inventory with the California Climate Action Registry. Bentley Prince Street has been reporting to The Climate Registry since 2008. As a result of its long-standing commitment to measure and report its GHG emissions, Bentley Prince Street has been able to take actions towards reducing those emissions. Since 1996, the company has reduced GHG emissions by 61%.
“Climate Registered organizations understand that there are both environmental and economic benefits to understanding and managing your carbon footprint,” said Denise Sheehan, Executive Director of The Climate Registry. “Bentley Prince Street has become part of a powerful community of Climate Registered organizations, with substantive data guiding and supporting its sustainable activities.”
