Bentley Prince Street Celebrates Earth Day Across Country

How We’re Celebrating Earth Day Across The Country

At Bentley Prince Street we like to think of everyday as Earth Day and promote environmentally responsible practices year-round with programs like Cool Carpet and ReEntry 2.0. That being said, we would not let Earth Day pass without planning some extra special activities to celebrate the day, raise awareness and give back to communities in different regions across the country.

In the Eastern Region we have an event planned in partnership with Starnet

dealer, Consolidated Carpet, which has inner city junior high students thinking outside the box to repurpose our used carpet sample boxes.

Top design firms all over New York City have been stockpiling all sorts of fun materials for this hands on workshop and design competition that will teach the 6th-8th graders about how sustainability and design can complement each other. Each designer will team up with 3-4 students to decorate a sample box with all of the materials that they donated.

Afterwards, the boxes will be filled with craft tools such as scaled rulers, colored pencils, graph paper and other art supplies, which will then be donated to the Salvadori Center. The Salvadori Center works to engage students in real world design, construction and architectural activities.

Down South in Greenville we will be working with another Starnet dealer, Bonitz, to sponsor a competition for local design firms. Each firm will piece together a collage that represents green awareness in the office and in the home. The winner will be treated to a bowling party!

Right here in L.A. our team is working with our Starnet dealer, M & M, on a sample collection contest with local design firms. They are being challenged to think up creative ways to reuse carpet samples. The winners creativity will be rewarded with 50 yards of Bentley Prince Street carpet and free installation from M & M.

We will also be removing invasive weeds from the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area and replacing them with a native plant garden, as well as, throwing our very own Green Fair on May 11th. We have invited vendors to talk about their organizations and give tools to our associates about living more sustainably.

LA County Sanitation is also having an Earth Day 2010, which we are sponsoring, and at which we are exhibiting. There will also be a Bentley Prince Street rug raffled off!
