Starnet Worldwide Commercial Flooring Partnership has achieved its collective goal of diverting 50 million pounds of post-consumer carpet from landfill by 2015. This accomplishment was announced on April 17, 2015 by Dr. Bob Peoples, Executive Director of Carpet America Recovery Effort (CARE), during the Starnet 2015 Annual Meeting in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Peoples presented a plaque on behalf of the CARE Board of Directors, to Jeanne Matson, Starnet President & CEO, commemorating this accomplishment and CARE’s appreciation of its visionary partnership with Starnet. This presentation took place during a Starnet awards ceremony attended by over 600 persons including Starnet members and Preferred Vendor Partners.
During his remarks, Dr. Peoples commented that the combined carpet reclamation efforts of the Cooperative resulted in saving over 144 Million gallons of water and avoided over 232,900 cubic yards of landfill. Jeanne Matson added “Starnet Members are committed to our environment and to operating their businesses accordingly. Starnet has enjoyed an active supportive involvement with the CARE organization for the past 10 years.”
The Starnet organization has been active in motivating its 165 member companies to support carpet reclamation, an effort which is guided by the Environmental Issues Committee which tracks member activities in environmental concerns.
